Justine Indira Skyers, better known as Justine Skye , is an American singer, songwriter and model born August 24, 1995 in New York. She became known through Tumblr and her 2014 single Collide .
CAREER
In 2011, Justine Skye created her YouTube channel and posted covers of songs like Headlines by Drake or Take Care with Rihanna . She quickly gained thousands of subscribers and was noticed by media like Billboard and The Fader .
In 2012, she released her first original single titled Everyday Living , which would give its name to her debut EP the following year.
She also participates in the Color Me Inadvertising campaign for the American Eagle Outfitters brand with other young talents like Gabi Wilson or Coco Jones.
In 2013, she signed with Atlantic Records and released her first EP on this label: Everyday Living . The EP contains six tracks including Messin’ With You with Joey Badass and Hard Work . She also opened for the group Mindless Behavior on tour in the United States1.
In 2014, she released her most popular single to date: Collide featuring Tyga. The song was produced by DJ Mustard and reached the top 40 of the R&B/Hip-Hop charts in the United States. She also appears in the music video for Don’t Panicby French Montana.
In 2015, she released her second EP on Atlantic Records: Emotionally Unavailable. The EP contains ten tracks including I’m Yours with Vic Mensa and Bandit. She also appeared on the cover of Vibe Vixen magazine and posed for the Forever 21 brand.
In 2016, Justine Skye released her third EP on Atlantic Records: 8 Ounces . The EP contains nine tracks including You Don’t Know with Wizkid or Fun. She then left Atlantic Records to join Roc Nation.
In 2017, she released her first single on Roc Nation: Back for More featuring Jeremih. The song is from his debut studio album, Ultraviolet , which was released the following year . She also participated in the Made in America festival organized by Jay-Z in Philadelphia and at Tidal X Brooklyn for the benefit of hurricane victims12.
The album received mixed reviews and peaked at number 88 on the US Billboard 200.
She also made her film debut in the 2018 film Green Dolphin , directed by Chris Kenneally and produced by Keanu Reeves. She plays the role of Mouse, a teenager who runs away with her boyfriend to escape domestic violence1.
In 2019, she became an independent artist and released two EPs: Bare With Me and Bare With Me (The Album) . The EPs contain six tracks each including Maybe, Too Much or Secrets. She explored more R&B and soul sounds than her previous projects and received praise from critics and the public.
