Gistlover Blog owner and members arrested
Nigerian Police have arrested the owner and key members of the popular blog following a petition by Mr and Mrs Seye Oladejo.
The arrests, linked to a case of conspiracy, cyber stalking and death threats, were made in collaboration with the police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Those arrested were identified as Adebukola Kolapo, Nnedum Michael Somtomchukwu and Isaac Akpokege, who are said to be part of a syndicate known as the Gistlover Family.
The union is allegedly responsible for operating Gistlover Blog, a microblogging platform known for its involvement in cyberstalking, enticement, extortion and other illicit activities that have sparked public concern over time.
According to the police statement, during their interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in the plot, which is consistent with the substantial evidence already in the possession of the authorities.
Adebukola Kolapo, also known as Omo oba Gistlover, is said to have played a significant role in the creation of over 80% of Gistlover’s pages, leaving a digital footprint linking him to the commission of criminal acts.
Adebukola, who was allegedly on the platform’s payroll, was allegedly given perks such as cars and cash incentives.
His responsibilities extended to include researching, editing, and translating content and specifically targeting the complainant. and Dr. Mrs. Oluseyi Oladejo with cyber stalking messages.
Additionally, Adebukola is accused of contributing to the laundering of money acquired through these illegal schemes through various means.
Digital forensic analysis led to the discovery of eight Gestlaufer pages, all of which appeared to have been created by Adebukola at the direction of the syndicate leader.
The investigation also revealed wallet addresses linked to money laundering activities.
The statement read;
Upon arrest the suspects revealed their various degrees of involvement in the conspiracy, corroborating the already available overwhelming evidences. The first suspect Adebukola Kolapo a.k.a Omo oba Gistlover was responsible for the creation of over 80 percent of the Gistlover pages thereby lending his digital footprint for the perpetration of the aforementioned criminal act. Being on the pay roll of the said platform and having enjoyed incentives like car gifts and monies, Adebukola was saddled with the responsibility of scouting, editing and captioning contents including the cyber stalking post made against the complainant, Hon. and Dr. Mrs Oluseyi Oladejo. Adebukola has also contributed in laundering monies gotten from the illegal scheme through various means.
